The Craft of Acting Overview

THURSDAYS | 1-3pm
September 24, 2026 - December 17 2026

at Erie Community Library (first class at Erie Community Park

  • Students must be at least 10 and not yet 15 by 9/24

  • Enrollment is first come, first served and the maximum class size is 9

  • While the program is designed with homeschoolers in mind, public and private students are welcome to enroll

  • No auditioning or prior experience required.

As much as we would love to, at this time we are unable to make specific accommodation for students with significant mobility assistance needs, severe communication challenges, or hearing or sight impairment. Enrollment will not be refused, and the student will be welcomed, respected, and included within the scope of the program’s resources, but we encourage parents to dialogue with RMSPA to ensure it will be a good fit for their student.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Young actors will experience a robust course focused on the craft of acting. They will gain a deep understanding of the tools and techniques required to live truthfully in the imaginary circumstances of a scene. Students will apply their knowledge as they prepare, practice, and perform scenes from the classic play The Importance of Being Earnest, and/or a similar works. We will learn techniques from Acting One and A Young Actor Prepares, and practice improv skills.

There is a showcase for family and friends on 12/17, class may run past 3pm
